New Beginnings Merced seeking volunteers

New Beginnings Merced, a local nonprofit dedicated to saving shelter animals and finding them new homes, needs volunteers. Especially needed are people who can provide foster homes for kittens, or help with mother dogs and puppies. Also needed are people to photograph shelter animals or to help transport animals to rescue organizations. No personal vehicles are needed for transportation. Call (209) 769-2122.

SCORE offers business counseling

SCORE is the acronym for the Service Corps of Retired Executives, counselors to America’s small business. They bring resources to a brand-new or seasoned business on how to succeed. Counseling on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays at 2, 3 and 4 p.m. Workshops available. For information or to make an appointment, call (209) 724-2033.

Help for pregnant women

JMJ Maternity Homes, a faith-based 501(c)3 group, provides homeless pregnant women with shelter, resources and support services in a nurturing Christian environment. Our maternity and resident programs provide shelter and support services to facilitate prenatal and post-partum health, counseling, case management, food, clothing and more. Legal services available

Central California Legal Services offers legal advice and representation to eligible individuals with tenant rights and homeless issues, and case involving Social Security and SSI disability claims, CalWorks, Medi-Cal, unemployment, and CalFresh (food stamp. Fall Tea & Bazaar

The Native Daughters of the Golden West will hold the annual Fall Tea & Bazaar from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 2 at the United Methodist Church, 899 Yosemite Park Way. There will be homemade breads, cookies and other baked goods, craft and sewing items and much more for sale, a Thanksgiving basket raffle and luncheon. Call (209) 723-2575.

Farmers market trip

Merced College Community Services is offering a bus trip to San Francisco’s farmers market on Saturday. Tickets are $65 and includes transportation and refreshments. Call (209) 384-6224 to register.
