Amanda Hage: Last Hope shelter needs support

October 29, 2013

As a regular volunteer and supporter of Last Hope Cat Kingdom, I encourage the public to resist the urge to believe everything you read. A recent letter writer suggested Last Hope should lose its permit, as if that person knows what is going on.

I am a regular volunteer and have never seen the letter writer at the shelter. Last Hope has saved thousands of animals over many years and has helped hundreds, if not thousands, of citizens as well. In all those years there was never a sign of trouble; so animal control was generous enough to send an average of 500 animals a year to Last Hope.

The shelter is beautiful and sits on an 18-acre property with a huge climate-controlled cat facility and kennels two to three times the normal size. It is my hope that those helped by Last Hope remember it and show their support. I know I certainly will. Those who really have no idea should keep an open mind because there is just so much more to this story.
