Senior fitness classes

Flags for Warriors

The American Legion Auxiliary, Merced Unit 83, is taking orders for Flags for Warriors. Flags will be posted at the Veterans Memorial Hall on Labor Day and Veterans Day with an inscription in memory or in honor of your hero. Cost is $10 per flag. California Legal Services

Central California Legal Services offers no-cost legal advice and representation to low-income people eligible individuals involved in tenant rights and homeless issues, Social Security and SSI disability claims, CalWORKs, Medi-Cal, unemployment, and CalFresh (food stamp) cases. Cellphones sought

The Merced County Area Agency on Aging is requesting unneeded cell phones for distribution to Merced County seniors for calls to 911. They should have a charging unit and a working battery. Call (209)385-7550.

Taco Tuesday and Trivia Night

The American Legion will hold Taco Tuesday and Trivia Night every week from 6 to 8 p.m. at 939 W. Main St. Hamburger Night is Fridays at 6 p.m. Call (209)722-0940 for more information.

Shelter needs help

The D Street Shelter needs basic hygiene supplies such as shampoo, conditioner, soap, deodorant, toothbrushes and toothpaste. Travel size works well. For more information, call Renee Mounce at (209)7250-8188 or (209)947-8386.

Mental illness support

Merced County’s branch of the National Alliance on Mental Illness holds biweekly support groups for families affected by serious mental illness. For more information, call (209)381-6844.
