Gordo Fest

Gordo Fest will be held from 3 p.m. to midnight on Friday at Yosemite Hall, Merced Fairgrounds, 900 Martin Luther King Jr. Way. All ages. Presale tickets are $10, $15 at the door. Visit Gordo Fest 2013 via Facebook. Twelve acts, food, drinks, vendors. Manuel "Gordo" Chavez died a year ago. Proceeds will go to a music scholarship in his name.

Building Human Assets meeting

The Boys and Girls Club of Merced will hold a Building Human Assets Meeting, Part 1, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at 615 W. 15th St. The meeting will include learning and support services to improve the home, school, neighborhood and workplace networks of parents and children in crisis. Horse Science Fair

Wayward Ponies' Home will host a Horse Science Fair for fourth- through eighth-graders as part of its next open house on Feb. 8. Project pre-approval forms must be sent in by Saturday. The group needs organizations, businesses or individuals that wish to sponsor prizes, and retired teachers, particularly retired science teachers, to serve as judges.
