Merced city offices closed for holidays

December 23, 2013

City of Merced offices will be closed Christmas and New Year’s Day.

Trash collection for all city residentswill be delayed by one day because the landfill will also be closed.

Residents who live where trash collection would normally be Wednesday should place canisters out Thursday, and those with Thursday collection days need to have containers out Friday.

Christmas trees placed at the curb will not be collected, according to city staff. Artificial or flocked trees must be broken down and put in the gray trash can

Christmas trees can be put in the green container, if:

• All ornaments have been removed, including tinsel and the tree stand;

• They are cut into segments of no longer than 4 feet;

• They are not flocked or treated;

• The tree fits in the can with the lid closed.

For questions, call public works at (209) 385-6800.
