I am in complete agreement that texting while driving is definitely a no-no, as set forth in the letter No more texting, driving (Perspective, Dec. 20). But I think it is also quite rude to express generalities as in the writers almost guarantee that every driver ... has sent at least one text while driving without foundation.
Not to rain on the writers parade, but I am a driver who has never texted while driving. Not only that, I do not have the necessary texting equipment and, should someone give me such equipment, I would have no idea how to use it or even a desire to learn. I never did, and still do not, enjoy driving. Consequently, I ride with another driver whenever possible. As yet, I have never seen anyone in any vehicle texting, though I have heard that it is quite common.
So writers, please refrain from expressing generalities without foundation.
P.S. I have not been on any form of public transportation in several years; so, I have no knowledge of what happens there.
