LOS BANOS — The Los Banos Police Department is searching for two individuals believed to be involved in two separate crimes at a convenience store Tuesday.
Police said the first incident was an attempted robbery at 12:35 a.m. at Circle K, 403 N. Mercey Springs Road. Officers spoke with a 22-year-old man who said while he was pumping gas he was approached by two black males who appeared to be between the ages of 17 and 19, wearing hooded sweatshirts and jeans.
Police said one of the teens said he had a gun and ordered the victim to turn over money. The victim was assaulted after he attempted to go into the convenience store for help, police said.
The suspects were last seen running east on Mercey Springs Road. The victim suffered minor injuries and did not require medical attention.
Police responded to Circle K a second time at 2:37 a.m. after a store clerk called 911 to report a robbery attempt.
Officers were told a black male juvenile wearing a hooded sweatshirt, which was zipped up and covering his head, entered the business claiming he had a gun. The suspect demanded money and threatened to shoot the clerk if he did not comply, according to police.
The clerk refused to give the assailant any money despite being threatened several times, police said. The assailant eventually left the store, running northeast across Mercey Springs Road.
The culprits in both cases are still at large.
