Bozeman, MT (SportsNetwork.com) - Michael Dison scored the game-winning basket as time expired for the Montana State Bobcats in their thrilling 68-66 win over the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks in Big Sky Conference play at Worthington Arena.
Dison finished the contest with 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the floor, while Flavien Davis accounted for a team-best 19 points in the meeting. Paul Egwuonwu registered a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Bobcats (7-6, 2-0 Big Sky) as they won for the fifth time in six tries.
The Lumberjacks (4-9, 1-1) were led by Aaseem Dixon with 18 points and five assists, followed by Gaellan Bewernick with 15 points and five rebounds. Quinton Upshur pitched in with 11 points and Kris Yanku 10 off the bench.
Both programs knocked down 10 field goals in the first half, but MSU managed to outscore the visitors at the free-throw line in the period, 8-2, in order to claim a 30-26 advantage at the break.
In the second half the teams converted better than 51 percent from the floor and while NAU was able to make good on 6-of-11 beyond the arc, the meeting still came down to the final play of the game for Dison and the Bobcats.
Montana State managed to overcome 15 turnovers by outscoring the 'Jacks at the free-throw line, 15-6.
