On behalf of the 76 foster children assigned to CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Merced County, we say thank you to the many community members who donated Christmas gifts so that every child in our program could experience a very Merry Christmas.
CASA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing quality intervention and advocacy services to abused and neglected foster children in Merced County. These children are often placed in an unfamiliar home and usually do not spend the holiday with family. But this year, they were able to experience the joy of Christmas.
The employees of Merced Irrigation District took on the challenge of raising funds and shopping for CASA kids from ages 9 to 19, while a local church group and Lowes provided gifts for the younger children. The gifts were presented to the children at our first CASA Christmas party. It was an amazing evening made possible by MID, Lowes and Ward 1 of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Thank you for putting a smile on each childs face!
