Cheney, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - Drew Brandon came up a rebound shy of a triple-double as he produced 15 points and 10 assists for the Eastern Washington Eagles in their 77-72 win over the Montana State Bobcats in Big Sky Conference play.
Brandon converted 3-of-4 shots behind the 3-point line and 5-of-9 from the floor overall for the Eagles (7-8, 2-2 Big Sky) as they posted their second straight win. Also logging a double-double for the hosts was Venky Jois with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Tyler Harvey and Kelly Parker accounted for 19 and 18 points, respectively.
Flavien Davis led by five players in double figures with 17 points, adding 10 rebounds and three steals for the Bobcats (8-7, 3-1) as they had a three-game win streak snapped. Calen Coleman pitched in with 12 points, followed by Paul Egwuonwu, Michael Dison and Antonio Biglow with 10 points each.
Shooting 51.6 percent from the field, including a sizzling 10-of-16 behind the 3-point line in the first half, the Eagles pulled out to a 43-36 advantage at the break.
However, in the second half EWU made good on just 2-of-7 beyond the arc, allowing the Bobcats to actually surge ahead by 11 points, 61-50, with just under 13 minutes remaining in regulation. From there the hosts took over in order to capture the victory.
Montana State connected on just 38.6 percent form the field, 5-of-20 on the perimeter and a disappointing 13-of-26 at the free-throw line on the afternoon.
