A 33-year-old man was shot Tuesday night in Los Banos.

The victim was taken to a regional hospital, the Los Banos Police Department said.

An update on his condition was not available.

Detectives withheld the victim’s name Tuesday night to protect their investigation.

Officers responded around 7:15 p.m. to a convenience store in the 600 block of Pacheco Boulevard, Cmdr. Jason Hedden said.

People at the store said a man who was with the victim went into the store and asked employees where the nearest hospital was located.

“We believe he was shot at another location,” Hedden said.

Investigators do not believe the incident was gang related, Hedden said.

Hedden said police believed they had identified a suspect late Tuesday, but had not made any arrests.

A description of the suspect was not available.

The victim and suspect know each other through third party. They got into some type of argument and the victim was shot at least one time in the upper body, police said.
