Ruth Oosting: Measure H funds need oversight

January 22, 2014

Atwater has an Oversight Committee that was especially set up to keep track of the Measure H fund. Now we have people on this committee who did not know about the Brown Act. Apparently, the only one who knew was Jim Price, and he’s not the chairman. This committee should have available the actual report showing the amount received and the amount spent and for what. During the push to vote for this tax, there were people looking to get on this committee who stated they would be watching these funds like hawks. Really?

I’m sure many Atwater residents want to know how does the city lease five patrol cars with funds from Measure H? Did this lease go before the Oversight Committee? If not, why not?

We may have to call this a slush fund for the city of Atwater
