VFW Hamburger Night

The Veterans of Foreign Wars will have Hamburger Night from 5 to 7 Thursday at the Livingston Veterans Memorial Building, 1605 Seventh St., Livingston. The public is invited. There will be hamburgers, cheeseburgers, fish sandwiches, chicken sandwiches, hot dogs and chili. The sandwiches include a choice of homemade salads. Price are $2 to $4.50 per meal. Fundraiser for Atwater school

St. Anthony’s School will hold its annual casino night fundraiser at 5:30 p.m. March 8 at the APC Hall in Atwater. The evening will include a silent and live auction, a catered dinner and a variety of casino-style games, including blackjack, roulette and poker. Tickets are $30. All proceeds benefit the operation of St. Anthony’s School. For tickets, call the school at (209) 358-3341.

Empty Bowl fights hunger

The Merced County Community Action Agency will host its Empty Bowl project to fight hunger in Merced County from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 4 at the Atwater Community Center, 760 E. Bellevue Road. A donation of $20 will allow community members to receive a meal of soup, bread, and a handcrafted bowl to keep as a reminder of all the people who go hungry in the community. Baseball camp

Buhach Colony Baseball will offer its Kick-Off to Spring Training Baseball Camp on Feb. 1 for children in third through eighth grade. The camp will focus on a variety of drills and skills. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. Camp runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Buhach Colony High School baseball field. The fee is $40, which includes lunch and a T-shirt. Space is limited. Swiggart for sheriff dinner

A dinner to support Frank Swiggart for Merced County sheriff-coroner will be Feb. 6. A no-host cocktail hour begins at 6 p.m. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. The meal includes chicken with pasta prepared by Mike Salvadori and crew. The dinner will be held at the Italo-American Lodge, 1351 W. 18th St. Tickets can be purchased at www.swiggartforsheriff.com/feb6dinner or by calling (209) 336-6211. Tickets are $25 each or $250 for a table of 10.
