Help plan Merced’s

125th birthday celebration

Merced is turning 125 years old. The public is invited to help plan an April concert in the park and birthday celebration. The planning meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Civic Center, 678 W. 18th St.

Club holds gospel concert to celebrate black history

The Merced College Club BSU will hold a free Glorious Gospel Concert in celebration of Black History Month. The event will include praise dancing to the church choir gospel group, poetry and more. The celebration will recognize late South African President Nelson Mandela and civil rights activist Diane Nash. The event will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. with doors opening at 2 p.m. Feb. 9 at the Merced College Theater. Refreshments will be provided. Marching 100 to hold

its pancake breakfast

The Merced Marching 100 Annual Pancake Breakfast will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Merced High School Cafeteria, 205 W. Olive Ave. Meal includes pancakes, eggs, sausage and beverages. Tickets are $7 at the door.

St. Anthony Preschool at 1801 Winton Way in Atwater is accepting enrollment for 2- to 5-year-olds who are fully potty trained. The activities offered each day are designed to expand your child’s social skills, introduce religion and stimulate creative potential in a small, loving environment. Children can learn early literacy skills with age-appropriate activities that will help ready them for school success. Various affordable sessions are available. Give blood, get a meal from Livingston VFW

Go find Timmy at toy show

The 3rd Annual Vintage Toy and Collectible Show is being held from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 16 at the Merced Elks Lodge, 1910 M St. Early birds can enter from 9 to 10:59 a.m. Early bird fee is $10. General admission is $5, and kids under 10 get in free. There will be free parking. Food and drinks are available for purchase. Jon Provost, who played Timmy on the television series “Lassie,” will sign autographs. For more information call (209) 722-6740.
