Pullman, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - D.J. Shelton led the way with 20 points and 18 rebounds as the Washington State Cougars downed the Washington Huskies, 72-67, in Pac-12 Conference action at Beasley Coliseum.
Que Johnson added 15 points and DaVonte Lacy chipped in with 10 for the Cougars (9-12, 2-7 Pac-12), who snapped a four-game losing streak.
For the Huskies (13-9, 5-4), C.J. Wilcox finished with a game-high 24 points, while Perris Blackwell added a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, Nigel Williams-Goss scored 11, Andrew Andrews scored 10 and Mike Anderson pulled down 10 rebounds.
Washington shot 52.4 percent from the field in the first, including 2-of-4 from 3-point range, as the Huskies took a 27-25 lead into the intermission. Washington State made 40 percent of its shots from the field in the first half, including 2-of-9 from beyond the arc.
After the break, the Cougars heated up from deep, connecting on 5-of-11 from 3-point range, part of a 42.9 percent shooting performance. The Huskies struggled from the field in the second, shooting just 38.9 percent but did manage to knock down 6-of-16 from 3-point distance. Trailing 42-34 with just over 13 minutes to play, the Cougars used a 22-3 run over the next eight and a half minutes to take control of the game, as they held on down the stretch to snag the victory over their intra-state rivals.
Washington State had the advantage at the charity stripe, 21-9. The Cougars outrebounded the Huskies, 39-36.
