ATWATER — Atwater High School’s music department is having its annual Luau Dinner and Auction from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Atwater Community Center at Bellevue Road and Redwood Avenue. Dinner includes Hawaiian-style pork, barbecue chicken, rice and macaroni salad. Dinner for both dine-in or takeout will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. There will be live and silent auctions, and a performance by the South Pacific Dance Co. McSwain School is accepting appointments for transitional kindergarten/kindergarten roundup. Registration will be 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. March 18-19 in the west campus library. The Merced County Genealogical Society meeting will be held at noon Feb. 22 in the Gracey Room, Merced County Library, 2100 O St. The speaker will be Bob Ringo with a presentation called “Beginning Your Cherokee Genealogical Research.” If you have, or suspect you have, any Native American ancestry in your family, you should come to this meeting and find out where to look for answers. The meeting is open to all, with no membership required.
