Garth Wright: This is an issue of integrity

February 7, 2014

As someone who spent over 25 years in the law enforcement field, I was appalled by the fix-it mentality of one of our political nabobs ("Supervisor steps in to assist his aide stopped by police," Feb. 1, Page A1). The police do a very difficult and necessary job getting dangerous people off the road only to be blindsided by political pressure for special treatment. It revolves around a little thing called integrity. Either we are all equal before the law or the law is merely a convenience to be manipulated by, and for, the privileged few.

Seems to me that integrity leaves the room every time politics enters. Perhaps it is because integrity can’t stand the smell.
