Veterans’ Job/Resource Fair

The spring Veterans’ Job/Resource Fair will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 13 at Merced American Legion Hall, 939 W. Main St. This event will be open to the public. There is no charge for job seekers or to employers. Dress for success and bring copies of your résumé. For more information, call (209) 576-6118 or (209) 726-5407.

Merced High orientation

Merced High School will have a parent/student orientation for incoming ninth-graders 6 p.m. Wednesday in the gym. This is an opportunity for parents and students to meet administrators, counselors, teachers and coaches, and for students to get information about the transition to high school. Students will also be able to choose elective courses and submit contact information to the school. All students and parents/guardians are encouraged to attend. Docent orientation class

Calaveras Big Trees State Park will hold a docent orientation class from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 12 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 9 at Jack Knight Hall, near the old Visitors Center. Attendance is mandatory for all new park volunteers. RSVP is required and must be received two weeks before the desired training session. Alzheimer’s Support Group

The Los Banos Alzheimer’s Support Group will meet at noon Feb. 19 at Country Waffle, 845 W. Pacheco Blvd., Los Banos. Tea Party meeting

The Merced-Atwater Tea Party will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the VFW Hall, Fifth and Broadway, Atwater. The agenda includes nomination of officers and an open forum to discuss the goals and event participation for the coming year. Everyone is invited to attend and participate.

Parkinson’s support group

A Parkinson’s support group meeting, hosted by Amie Marchini, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Mission Gardens, 1450 E. 27th St. The featured speaker will be Lori Ferriera from Merced Medical Supply, who will discuss and demonstrate how to use medical equipment safely in and out of the home. She will also provide information on how to acquire medical equipment, focusing on Medicare’s new regulations. For more information or to RSVP, call (209) 384-3300.
