Crab feed Saturday

The annual North Merced Crab Feed will be at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Merced County Fairgrounds Pavilion. Doors will open at 6 p.m. On the menu is all-you-can-eat crab, salad, hot bread and homemade pasta. A no-host bar will be available. Funds support scholarships and youth activities. Tickets are $40. Day of Service set

Castle Family Health Centers and Soroptimist International of Atwater will hold their seventh annual Day of Service event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 1 at the Bloss Clinic, 1251 Grove Ave., Atwater. They will provide health screenings for diabetes and high blood pressure; vision and breast exams for adults; and screening of vision, hearing and dental for children. Lunch and refreshments will be offered, as well as raffles and activities for children. Everything is free. For more information, call Castle Family Health Centers at (209) 381-2000, ext. 7210.

DAR meeting sheduled

The Merced River Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet at 10:30 a.m. March 1 in the main branch of the Merced County Library, Gracey Room. Social time starts at 10 a.m. and the meeting begins at 10:30 a.m. DAR is open to women, age 18 and over, who can prove lineal descent from a Revolutionary Patriot. Mental Health Board meets

The Merced County Mental Health Board will meet from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. March 4 at the county’s mental health administration building, 1137 B St.

Eyeglass donations sought

An area optometrist is asking for eyeglass donations. Neil Nebeker and his wife, Leslie, will be traveling to Mexicali, Mexico, with the Groveland Rotary Club as part of an outreach medical clinic. They would like to collect 1,000 pairs of used eyeglasses, which will be analyzed and cataloged to to be distributed. Glasses should be in good condition without deep scratches, broken frames or missing lenses. They can be donated at Advanced Healthcare, 197 W. El Portal Drive, Suite A, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, call (209) 384-2110.

Social dance on Sunday

A Sunday social dance and music by “Just Friends” will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Merced Community Center ballroom, 755 W. 15th St. Cost is $8 at the door. Doors will open at 1 p.m. For more information, call (209) 723-0839.
