Church barbecue Saturday

A deep-pit barbeque dinner by the Le Grand Methodist Church will be Saturday, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the all-purpose room of Le Grand Elementary School, 13071 Le Grand Road. The meal includes beef, beans, salad, roll, butter, dessert and drink. The price is $12.50 for adults and $6 for children 6 to 12. Children 5 and younger eat for free. There will be a silent auction as well. The proceeds go to church mission projects. Call David Hansen, (209) 756-2815 for tickets, or buy them at the door or from any church member.

Symphony concert

The Merced Symphony’s annual chamber concert will be Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Multicultural Arts Center, 645 W. Main St. Divertissement will be the featured group. Tickets are $35 for adults and $10 for full-time students. Buy tickets at the arts center, Merced Floral, Christina’s Fine Clothing, Big O Tires and Gold Smith Jewelers in Atwater. Dog obedience class

The Yosemite Kennel Club’s dog obedience class will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Applegate Park. The class is six weeks long, covers basic obedience (heel on a loose leash, sit, lie down, stay and come when called) and includes a Canine Good Citizen class. Dogs must be at least 4 months old. All breeds or mixed-breeds are welcome. The cost is $70, or $50 for dogs adopted from an animal shelter or a nonprofit rescue organization. For more, call (209) 631-0484.

Enchilada dinner

The 65th annual Hornitos enchilada dinner will be Saturday from 3:30 to 8 p.m. at the Golden Stag Hall. Dinner includes your choice of two enchiladas or chicken pie, with beans, fresh salsa, garlic bread, coleslaw, sherbet cup, coffee and punch. You may dine in or take out. Mental Health Board

The Merced County Mental Health Board will meet March 4 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the county’s mental health administration building, 1137 B St.

SPCA meeting

The Merced Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals meets the first Monday of each month at 7 p.m., (except when the first Monday is a holiday) at the First Baptist Church, 500 Buena Vista Drive. Call (209) 723-8953 or (209) 384-7722 for more information.
