Retired Teachers learn art

California Retired Teachers Association will present a discussion of experimental acrylics, an art form focusing on artistic inspiration, March 17, 10 to 11:30 a.m., at the Multicultural Arts Center. The program will be conducted by Lisa Gilliland-Viney and Sue Thompson. Lunch afterward at Five-Ten Bistro. Cost is $10. Potato Bar luncheon

The Women’s Club will be have its Potato Bar luncheon March 4 in the clubhouse at 22nd and N streets. Cost is $8. All women are invited. Call (209) 384-5880 for reservations before Saturday. Lisa Wegley of Merced Medical Foundation will talk about stroke.

Seeking instructors

Merced College Community Services is accepting instructor proposals for the fall term, August to December. Visit www. mercedcommunityservices.

com or call (209) 384-6224 to get a proposal form. Forms are due back to Community Services no later than March 14.

Odd Fellows breakfast

The La Grange Odd Fellows will have a breakfast March 9 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the IOOF Hall downtown. The menu is biscuits and gravy, sausage, potatoes, French toast and eggs, choice of omelet ingredients, coffee and orange juice. Cost is $6. The Odd Fellows Hall is on Highway 132, just east of its intersection with Highway J-59. For more information, call (209) 853-2128.

Indian Gulch runs

The Indian Gulch 2-mile, 5-mile and 10-mile run is March 8. Proceeds benefit the UC Merced running program. Run the foothills, then have a continental breakfast at the Golden Stag Hall in Hornitos. Check-in and race day registration is 7:15 to 8:15 a.m. All races start at 8:30 a.m. Cost is $22 for preregistration, $20 for club members, $25 race day registration.
