Juvenile sought by Merced police in shooting at home window

March 3, 2014

— Someone in a group of juveniles fired a shot at house over the weekend in north Merced, police reported Monday.

No one was injured when the single shot struck the front window of a home in the 1100 block of Crescent Drive, according to a news release. Officers responded about 3:45 a.m. Saturday after several residents called to report the shooting, Lt. Chris Goodwin said.

The group that had gathered in the area were asked to the leave, police said. They yelled and cursed loudly, then left, using more than one vehicle.

The exact number of individuals involved was not available Monday, nor were descriptions of them or their vehicles.

“As the vehicles were leaving the area, one of the occupants shot at a house, striking the front window,” police said in the statement. “Nobody was hit or injured, and the officers only located one bullet hole in the residence.”

Police said it was still too early to know whether the incident was gang-related.
