Volunteers to help with Affordable Care Act sign-ups in Merced

March 6, 2014

— Volunteers from Merced-area nonprofits and public agencies plan to assist anyone looking for help to enroll in the Affordable Care Act this weekend in Merced.

The outreach and enrollment event is from 10 a.m to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Merced Senior Center, 755 W. 15th St.

Organizers said more than 130 families in Planada got help during a similar event last month.

Organizers said certified enrollment counselors will provide information in English and Spanish on how to sign up for health care, as well as other benefits and information.

Affordable Care Act open enrollment closes on March 31.

Organizers recommend that individuals bring their latest income tax returns or check stubs, as well as identification such as Social Security cards, California IDs, green cards or U.S. Citizenship Naturalization Certificates.

The event is organized by several organizations and agencies, including United Way of Merced County, Building Healthy Communities, the Merced Organizing Project, Golden Valley Health Centers, the Merced County Department of Public Health and the Merced County Human Services Agency, among others.
