Sober Grad needs committee members

Strengthening class

The Fitness for Balance and Strength class helps senior citizens and others who need to recover their strength, relieves stress and promotes health. Christina Harris instructs the class from 10 to 11 a.m. every Monday and Wednesday at the City Council chamber, 633 Main St. Cost is $30 per month. Wellness program for cancer survivors

Pathways Towards Recovery is a free, eight-week restorative wellness program for post-treatment adult cancer survivors and caregivers. The program runs from 3 to 4 p.m., Monday and Wednesday, through March 26 at Mercy Medical Center Pavilion, 333 Mercy Ave.

Child support help

The Merced County Department of Child Support Services will hold workshops to help parents modify their child support and explain the Compromise of Arrears Program, assisting those who want to apply for it. The first workshop will be from 10 a.m. to noon and the second from 2 to 4 p.m. on March 20 at 3368 N. Highway 59, Suite 1. Call (209) 381-1329 for more information.

‘Romeo and Juliet’

Merced Shakespearefest will present “Romeo and Juliet” at 7:30 p.m. on March 28 and 29 and at 2 p.m. on March 30 at the Art Kamangar Center at the Merced Theatre, 301 W. Scholarships available

The San Joaquin Section of the California Association of Supervisors of Child Welfare and Attendance are offering scholarships to area high school seniors. The Anthony Brucia Success Award is given to students who have overcome adversity to achieve success. Applications are available from high school scholarship counselors and are due by April 1.
