Police Investigate Shooting in Los Banos

March 18, 2014

Police are looking for the suspect or suspects who shot a home with three young children inside in Los Banos.

The shooting occurred about 7:56 p.m. Monday in the 800 block of Vermont Avenue. The house was shot multiple times but no injuries were reported, the Los Banos Police Department said in a news release.

Cmdr. Jason Hedden said there were three children present in the house at the time of the shooting : a 2-year-old, a 7-month-old and a 6-month-old.

Witnesses reported seeing a person wearing a back hooded sweatshirt leaving the area on a bicycle immediately after the shooting, police said.

Hedden said it was early in the investigation and limited information was available.

While the motive was still unknown, police have not ruled out the possibility of a gang connection in the case, Hedden said.

Detectives are asking for the public’s help identifying the suspect or suspects.
