No injuries reported in South Merced shooting

No injuries were reported after shots rang out Tuesday night in the 1800 block of West Eighth Street, Merced police said.

No suspects are in custody.

The incident was reported at 9:23 p.m. Residents who live in the neighborhood reported hearing several gunshots and seeing a dark-colored sedan-type vehicle speeding away. Police said witnesses could not provide any further description of the vehicle or its occupants. Two parked vehicles were hit by the gunfire, police said.

Police are asking witnesses or anyone with information about the shooting to call Sgt. Scott Skinner at (209) 385-4702 or the department’s automated tip line at (209) 385-4725. Tips are kept confidential and callers can remain anonymous.
