Merced police are trying to contact the family of a 82-year-old pedestrian who was struck by a car earlier this month.
Police said Phanh Chanthathep remains in critical condition in a regional hospital. Although the crash happened March 14, police were unable to confirm Chanthatheps identity until Tuesday.
Chanthathep was flown to a trauma center after being struck by a car at 11:07 p.m. near R and West 23rd streets. Police said Chanthatheps wife, Sa Chanthathep, was struck and killed by a vehicle Dec. 21, 2012. Sa Chanthathep was walking across West 23rd Street near H Street when she was hit by a vehicle.
