Alzheimers support group meets

Los Banos Alzheimer’s Support Group will be meeting at noon Wednesday at Country Waffle, 845 W. Pacheco Blvd. A guest speaker from Valley Caregivers of Fresno will discuss available caregivers and facilities. For more information, call Eileen Sorensen at 826-5374 or Mary Anderson at 626-7185.

Take a run, support troops

The ninth annual Veterans Memorial-Support the Troops Run will take place 9 a.m. April 26 starting at Merced Power Sports, 265 W. 15th St. This is a free event, but organizers ask participants to bring a donation for care packages that they will be putting together for troops overseas. Social dance set

The Sunday Social Dance will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. April 27 at the Senior Community Center, 755 W. 15th St. Cost is $8 and refreshments and door prizes will be available. For more information, call (209) 723-0839.

Weight loss group meets

Merced Bariatric Weight Loss Support Group meets at 7 p.m. the 15th of each month (unless that falls on a weekend, in which case the group meets the Friday before), at 315 Mercy Ave., Third Floor, Classroom A. For more information, call (209) 261-6333.

Advisory groups seek members

People who want to get involved with city government can apply to serve on four advisory bodies: Measure C Committee; Recreation and Parks Commission; Bicycle Advisory Commission; and Economic Development Advisory Committee. All vacancies must be filled by city residents who are registered voters, except for the economic Development Advisory Committee seat. Central California Legal Services offers legal advice and representation to eligible individuals involved in tenant rights and homeless issues; Social Security and SSI disability claims; CalWorks, Medi-Cal, unemployment and CalFresh (food stamp) cases; and much more.
