Healthy House fundraiser

The Healthy House will host Cheryl Lockett in a program of cultural music and dance at its fundraiser at 6 tonight at the Elk Lodge on M St. Tickets are $30 per person. Proceeds will benefit the African American Health Disparities Project. There will be a salute to all mothers. Community members Rafiat Wali, Mailu Lor, Gepao Lor and the Rev. Dwight Amey will be honored.

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo

Celebrate Recovery will host a May Day/Cinco de Mayo celebration from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at Yosemite Church, 2230 E. Yosemite Ave. Food, live bands, raffle prizes and a bounce house. Call (209) 383-5038, ext. 27, for details.

Go-kart races

The Atwater Kart Club will hold go-kart dirt track races at 9 a.m. Sunday at the Memorial Speedway, 500 Industry Way. Call (408) 489-9432 for details.

SPCA Dog Walk

The SPCA’s annual Dog Walk will be May 10 at Applegate Park Zoo. Registration at 9 a.m. Download a pledge form at mercedspca.com and bring all pledges with you on the day of the walk. Walk your own pet or borrow one from the SPCA. Water and snacks will be available for purchase.

Mental health meeting

The Merced County Mental Health Board will meet at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at 15981 Stephens St.

‘Charlie Brown’ at Buhach

Buhach Colony High School will present “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown” at 7 p.m. Thursday through May 10 in the school theater, 1800 Buhach Road. Tickets are $10. Group rates are available. Email abettis@ muhsd.org for details.

Teacher Appreciation

Rockin’ for CASA

CASA of Merced will have its annual fundraiser at 6 p.m. May 10 at the Merced County Fairgrounds Pavilion, 900 Martin Luther King Jr. Way. “Rockin’ for CASA” will feature dinner, sock hop music, live and silent auctions. Tickets are $50 per person. CASA is a nonprofit that trains volunteers who provide support for abused and neglected children in Merced County. Call (209) 722-2272 for details.

All performers welcome

Singers, musicians, poets and comedians are invited to the American Legion, 939 W. Main St., at 6 p.m. on May 10. A guitar amplifier, PA system and karaoke machine will be available. All welcome. No cover charge. Call (209) 658-2663 for details.
