Sun-Star StaffMay 5, 2014

The League of Women Voters of Merced County will host a forum Thursday for the four candidates competing to be the next sheriff-coroner in Merced County.

The forum will be at 7 p.m. in the City Council chamber at the Merced Civic Center, 678 W. 18th St.

Four candidates are seeking the office: Pat Lunney, Jim Soria, Frank Swiggart and Vern Warnke.

Candidates will answer questions read by moderator Geri Brown.

Participants may submit questions in advance via Facebook at facebook.com/lwvmercedco or email at LWVMercedCo@gmail.com, or during the forum. The questions will be screened to eliminate any deemed inappropriate to the office or of a personal nature.

The league will have voter registration information and forms available for those not yet registered to vote.

The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization.
