Experience frontier living

The ninth annual Bettencourt Family Ranch Frontier Living History Rendezvous 1825 will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 17 at 11584 N. Shaffer Road in Winton. Journey back to the 19th century and experience the lifestyles of a time gone by. Try making a fire with flint and steel, hawk and knife throw, archery, and shooting muzzle loaders. Admission is free. There will be a raffle and scavenger hunt for the children, and lunch will be available for purchase. Flags for Warriors

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 83 is taking orders and renewals for its Flags for Warriors program. Flags will bear the name and photo of your warrior and be posted in front of the Veterans Hall on Memorial Day, July 4, Patriot Day and Veterans’ Day. Each flag is $10. Sober Grad help needed

Black Oak Casino trip

The Regenerations Wellness Cancer Foundation will host a trip to Black Oak Casino. The bus will leave the Home Depot parking lot in Los Banos at 6:30 a.m., Merced Mall at 7:30 and return at 5:45 p.m. Cost is $49.95 per person and includes transportation, $10 free play, $5 Match, $5 food, snacks and drinks and a raffle ticket. Mental illness support

Merced County’s branch of the National Alliance on Mental Illness holds biweekly support groups for families affected by serious mental illness. For more information, call (209) 381-6844 and a volunteer will contact you within 48 hours.

VFW hall available

The Atwater Veterans of Foreign Wars hall is available for the public to rent for parties. It holds 150 people and has a full-service kitchen. Call (209) 358-7224.
