Norman Vaughn-Hulbert: We need more sunlight

June 2, 2014

It’s encouraging to see our state government leading the nation by reining in big money’s corrupting influence in politics (“Our View: California Legislature actually getting something done,” May 15). Sen. Anthony Cannella and and Assemblyman Adam Gray deserve our thanks for voting to pass SB 27 and require dark money groups to report their secretive donors when they spend in California’s elections. The fight for transparency is far from over. The Assembly should pass the California Disclose Act, SB 52, to require political ads to plainly list their funders. Assemblyman Gray should join Sen. Cannella and vote for the Disclose Act this summer.
