Ready for Change will present The Humanitarian Awards at 5 p.m. June 28 at First Baptist Church, 500 Buena Vista Drive. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. Local nonprofits and individuals will be acknowledged for their community service. General admission is $10, and a portion of proceeds will benefit children. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9946 has been serving the needs of veterans and their families for more than 62 years and welcomes any veteran whose service included combat or combat operations. Merced County’s branch of the National Alliance on Mental Illness holds biweekly support groups for families affected by serious mental illness. Call (209) 381-6844 and a volunteer will contact you within 48 hours.
