Bee Staff ReportsJune 20, 2014

A 60-year-old woman died in a solo-vehicle crash south of Los Banos on Wednesday morning.

The woman was driving a Toyota Tacoma in the fast lane of northbound Interstate 5 near Laguna Seca Creek about 10:30 a.m., said California Highway Patrol Officer Dean Emehiser.

The woman, who was from Montebello in Los Angeles County, for unknown reasons made a sharp turn to the right, crossing the slow lane and traveling onto the dirt shoulder.

Her truck struck a barbed-wire fence and overturned several times before coming to a rest on its its top in a dry irrigation ditch about 150 feet from the roadway.

Emehiser said the woman died at the scene. Her name was not released because her family had not been notified.
