Fuentes throwing out first pitch at youth all-star game

June 20, 2014

Former major-league pitcher Brian Fuentes will throw out the first pitch at an 11-12-year-old Bronco All-Star game on Monday at Richard Bernasconi Park in Merced.

The all-star game was put together by a coach in the league with the help of local businesses. McNamara Sports donated the shirts for the 30 players chosen from the eight-team league. Food is being provided by La Nita’s, Bageltyme and Joe on the Go.

The El Capitan High School baseball program is helping prep the field and supplying chalk.

The game is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. Fuentes, who was a four-time all-star during his career with the Rockies, Angels and A’s, will throw out the first pitch at 5:45 p.m.
