One man shot on Meadowbrook Drive

Sun-Star StaffJune 25, 2014

A 29-year-old man suffered multiple gunshot wounds Tuesday night in the Beachwood area of Merced.

Few details were available as Merced County Sheriff’s detectives investigated the scene.

No arrests have been made.

The victim, identified as Brandon Nicholson, was shot multiple times in the upper body about 10 p.m. in the 2400 block of Meadowbrook Drive, Capt. B.J. Jones said.

Nicholson was taken to a regional hospital where he was believed to be in “serious, but stable condition,” Detective Sgt. Chuck Hale said.

Hale said there was no evidence of any gang connection in the case but that the possibility had not been ruled out.

Investigators said it was unclear if the attack was a drive-by shooting, but no vehicles were seen leaving the area.

The incident was one of two shootings Tuesday night in Merced. There was no word on whether the incidents are connected.

A 20-year-old Merced man was shot in the leg about 8 p.m. in the area of Ninth and D streets, the Merced Police Department said in a news release.

No arrests have been made in that case, either.
