The Chowchilla Music in the Park Summer Concerts begins Thursday night with Whiskey Row.
It is going to be hot on Thursday nights in Chowchilla this summer. Downtown will be the place to be as the city of Chowchilla presents a series of free weekly Music in the Park Summer Concerts in the Veterans Memorial Park. The series continues each week through Aug. 7. Performances are from 7 to 9 p.m.
Each week will feature bands from around the Central Valley featuring a different style of music.
Whiskey Row members Mike Pereira and Jason Ruffoni have a bond that has been forged by a unique sound. Together they immersed themselves into the greats of country. No matter the style, if it was easy on the ears they played it.
Pereira and Ruffoni got their start playing in local honky tonk’s paying their dues that eventually lead them to their first big break in January 2010 when they got to play at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tenn. They moved to Nashville that same year and completed their first album.
Whisky Row continues to expand their fan base. Touring regionally on the West coast, recently opening for such acts as Alabama, Kip Moore, Sugarland, Jake Owen, Little Big Town, Gloriana, Joe Diffie, Sammy Kershaw, Aaron Tippin, and Mark Wills to name a few. Engelmann Cellars, a Central Valley winery, has partnered with Whiskey Row to introduce Whisky Row Red. Whiskey Row was also commissioned by Fresno State University to write a theme song for the 2012 Bulldogs Football Team.
The Music in the Park Summer Concert Series is presented by the city of Chowchilla along with the Madera County Arts Council, Pacific Gas & Electric and the Chowchilla District Chamber of Commerce and many local businesses.
