City council candidates need to schedule appointments

Staff ReportJuly 2, 2014

Nov. 4 is Election Day. In Chowchilla, voters will cast their ballots to fill two open City Council seats presently held by Janan Hebert and Isaac Jackson. The seats are a four-year term of office and to qualify candidates must be a registered voter living within the Chowchilla city limit.

Interested candidates who would like to run for an open City Council seat are urged to schedule their appointment now with Chowchilla City Clerk Nanci Lima to meet with her during the upcoming nomination period. Beginning July 14 and until Aug. 8 the city clerk must meet with candidates to review the Candidate’s Guide and receive the nominations papers.

Candidates for the open council seats then must submit their completed nomination papers during the nomination period from July 14 to Aug. 8 at 4 p.m. Note that though the Chowchilla City Hall is closed on Aug. 8, the city clerk will be on-hand to process any candidate filing paperwork prior to the deadline.

If you are considering running for a City Council position, you should make your appointment now to ensure you can submit the completed paperwork before the deadline date. Contact Nanci Lima, Chowchilla city clerk, by phone at (559) 665-8615, ext. 102, or email her at CityClerk@ci.Chowchilla.CA.US.
