Susan White: Have pride in the American flag

July 2, 2014

Living and working in this area for many years has given me pride in the Central Valley. I am also a proud American and love my flag. Consequently, I’m frustrated when I see individuals and especially businesses fly American flags that are tattered and torn.

I have personally contacted prominent Merced businesses and asked that they replace tattered flags with new ones and have sometimes been met with disinterest.

With the approach of our nation’s birthday, I call on everyone who displays the emblem of our country to check their flag and be sure it is a true representation of Old Glory.

I drive down Arboleda south of the railroad tracks every day and will be watching to see if the Crop Production Services flag is replaced.
