Steven Landis: CHP officer justified in use of force

July 12, 2014

In response to the Sun-Star’s view “Training needed to handle mentally ill” (Opinions, July 10) of the CHP officer who is being scrutinized for the force he used in subduing a woman crossing a highway, I think the officer’s actions were justified.

We live in a society where cops are the bad guys because he gave you that speeding ticket.

They deal with the scum of the earth on a daily basis and then someone starts recording when the officer was forced to take action. How do we not know she wasn’t reaching for his service weapon.

We have to remember these guys go through extensive training.
