New police chief for Escalon

Mike Borges, who retired in March as deputy police chief in Ceres after a 34-year career with that city’s Police Department, was sworn in Monday as police chief in Escalon. He accepted the job last month. Escalon – a city of 7,200 whose Police Department has a sergeant and half a dozen officers – had been without a permanent police chief for nearly two years.
