Yosemite rescue crews join search for missing 73-year-old in Sierra

A search for a 73-year-old man last seen Sunday on the trail to Mt. Whitney was expanded today, with teams scouring both sides of the Sierra Nevada crest.

People looking for Kenneth Wade Brunette include search and rescue personnel from Yosemite, Sequoia and Kings Canyon national parks. They are being joined by teams from Fresno, Tulare, Sierra Madre, Montrose and Contra Costa counties.

Extremely windy conditions hampered the initial search.

Anyone who was in the back-country area around Whitney Portal, the Mt. Whitney summit or the areas in Sequoia National Park around Crabtree Meadow or Mt. Russel is asked to contact investigators by calling (559) 565-3195 or (559) 565-3195.
