Around Town: Children's Choir

The Merced Children's Choir is offering several scholarships to young singers, 7 to 12, who wish to participate in the ensemble's eighth semester. Rehearsals are on Wednesdays from 4 to 5:30 p.m. and the first one will be Wednesday in the Merced College Music Building, Room M1, 3600 M St.

Relay for Life

The American Cancer Society's Relay For Life of Livingston will host the kickoff for its event at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the Livingston Middle School cafeteria. Clemons dedication

A ceremony to name Merced High School's gymnasium court after former basketball coach Vince Clemons will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday. Tickets are $5 for adults and $4 for students and seniors.

Merced hostel tour

The Merced Hostel Society will host an overnight at the historical Victorian Mansion in Sacramento on Saturday. It will include a walking tour of Old Sacramento, a Paddlewheeler sightseeing cruise, the Railroad Museum, the Gold Rush History Center, the Governor's Mansion, the State Indian Museum, the Leland Stanford Mansion and a possible Sutter Gold Mine tour. COULTERVILLE

Roast beef dinners

The Coulterville Community United Methodist Church is back with those magnificent roast beef dinners. This month's dinner will be Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. The meal will feature roast beef with all the fixings, assorted beverages and homemade desserts.

Suggested donations are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and younger or a family packet for $25 for two adults and two children.

The church is located on Highway 49 just across the street from the Coulterville Park. Takeout orders are available.
