Around Town: Swing, Latin, blues

Just Friends will perform swing, Latin, blues and fox trot music tonight in the Multicultural Arts Center, 645 W. Main St. at 8. There will be a free tango lesson at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 for general and free to those 60 and older. For more information, call (209) 388-1090.

Musical celebration

Come and join a Testament of Praise: A Celebration of Faith at 4 p.m. on Sunday at the Merced United Methodist Church. The Chancel Choir will be joined by additional singers, a 15-piece orchestra, the Chorale at Playhouse Merced and bell choir.

Children's art class

The city of Merced, Parks and Community Services Department, will offer an animal-themed children's art class from 10 to 11:30 a.m. from June 9 to July 16. Cost is $35 and is open to children ages 5-10. For more information, call (209) 385-6298 or register at 690 W. 16th St. in Merced.

Barbershop chorus

The Golden Valley Chorus will host an Italian style dinner Show at 5:30 p.m. on June 26 at the United Methodist Church on Yosemite Park Way. Along with dinner enjoy the Golden Valley Chorus directed by Dain Goad, several local quartets, Ken Taylor's Jazz Band and possibly some local young singers. Tickets are $15.
