Around Town: Weaver Wildcats reunion coming

A committee is looking for members of the Weaver Wildcats class of 1976 to inform them of a spring reunion to be held at 7 p.m. at Big Bubba's Bad BBQ, 560 W. 18th St. Hors d'oeuvres and no host bar. Tickets are $18 for singles and $30 for couples and must be purchased no later than June 1. Science, engineering lecture series slated

The next lecture in the "2009 Frontiers in Science and Engineering Lecture Series" will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, the speaker will be Dr. Wil Van Greugel on "Astrobiology and the Origin of Life." Livestock exhibitor deadline is Wednesday

The deadline for independent junior exhibitors planning to enter their sheep, swine or goats at the 2009 Merced County Fair is Wednesday. Exhibitors must give management a copy of their birth certificate or driver's license as proof of age, a photo of their animal, appropriate proof of ownership, permanent tag, tattoo and/or hog ear notch information. Big Red One reunion

Veterans of the Army's renowed "1st Infantry Division, The Big Red One" will hold their 91st annual reunion in Michigan from Aug. 5 to Aug. 9 at the Hyatt Regency, Dearborn, Mich. The 1st Infantry Division is the Army's oldest and arguably most famous division and anyone who ever served in the First Infantry Division or any unit attached to it is invited to attend.
