Around Town: Night of arts

Join Y94 for the Y94 Night at the Arts Center at the Multicultural Arts Center from 6 to 8 p.m. at 645 W. Main Street.

A $5 donation goes to the Merced County Arts Council and includes the first drink. The event features Stella Artois beer and a selection of McManis wine.

Tri-tip picnic

The Merced County Historical Society will host its annual tri-tip picnic from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday in the historic County Courthouse Park.

Cost is $10 for tri-tip sandwich, beans, salad and soft drink. There will be a special takeout line on 21st Street. Proceeds will benefit the Courthouse Museum.

The Heritage & Hope film series has been rescheduled to Saturday at the Lakireddy Auditorium, 5200 N. Lake Road on the UC Campus.

This is a one-day film festival featuring "Santa Mesa" and "Slingshot Hip Hop" with a reception starting at 10 a.m.

Black homecoming

The 26th annual Black Merced Homecoming Memories in the Park will be from 2 to 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at McNamara Park. The public is invited.

Bring your grill and lawn chair and enjoy games, arts and crafts, and DJ Tyme and Cory B.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars will host hamburger night from 6 to 8 tonight at 1605 7th St.

Meals range from $1.50 to $3.50 and all proceeds go to support our community programs.

VFW breakfast

The Livingston/Delhi Veterans of Foreign Wars and ladies auxiliary will serve breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday at the Memorial Hall, 1605 7th St.

Cost is $6 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. Come have pancakes, french toast or biscuits and gravy, eggs cooked to order, hash browns, sausage or ham, coffee and juice.

Open Cockpit Day

Castle Air Museum will hold its Open Cockpit Day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Twenty-four of the 50 aircraft will be open to view, and each plane will be manned by a crew chief who will be available to answer questions.

Food vendors and the Sheriff's Department's K-9 unit will give a demonstration, along with helicopter rides for $40.

Admission is $12 for adults, $8 for seniors, $30 for families of four, $5 for ages 6 to 17 and children under 5 are free, as are active military with ID.

Memorial Day

The Livingston/Delhi Veterans of Foreign Wars and its ladies auxiliary will host its annual Memorial Day ceremony in the Livingston Memorial Park at Park and Main streets at 6 p.m. Monday.

Refreshments will be served at the Veterans Memorial Building following the ceremony.
