JAMESTOWN

Sierra Hope Ride

The 15th annual Sierra Hope Ride/Jamestown 2009 includes a parade from Mitchell's Modesto Harley-Davidson to Main Street in Jamestown.

More than 1,500 motorcycle riders will make the 50-mile ride to raise funds for Muscular Dystrophy Association. Last year's ride raised more than $215,000. Come for live music, Mountain Mischief, Echo Chainsaw carving team, auction and car show.

Community festival

St. Patrick's Catholic Church will host a community festival this weekend at the parish on Yosemite Avenue.

A pasta dinner will be served from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday. There will be multiple food booths and other activities from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.

Admission is free.

The Red Tent Bookclub will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Christian Connection to discuss "Blue Like Jazz," by Donald Miller.

Kite Day

Pacheco State Park will host the 8th annual Kite Day from noon to 4 p.m. June 20.

Cost is $5 per car and everyone who flies a kite will receive a souvenir button.

Food vendors, face painting and nature tables will also be available.

Alumni picnic

Mariposa High School's annual alumni picnic will start at 10 a.m. and go into the evening June 20 at the Mariposa County Fairgrounds, Fiske Picnic Area.

All alumni -- graduates or not -- relatives, guests, teachers and staff are welcome. Bring your own lunch and beverage for a day full of visiting. The class of 1959 will meet to celebrate its 50th year reunion. Raffle tickets will be available at the picnic.

Barbershop chorus

The Golden Valley Chorus will host an Italian-style dinner show at 5:30 p.m. June 26 at the United Methodist Church on Yosemite Parkway.

Along with dinner, enjoy the Golden Valley Chorus, directed by Dain Goad, several local quartets, Ken Taylor's Jazz Band and some local young singers. Tickets are $15.
