Around Town: ServSafe workshop offered

Merced College Workplace Learning Resource Center will host a "ServSafe Workshop" from 8 a.m. to noon on Tuesday and July 14 at the Business Resource Center, 630 W. 19th St. This class meets the requirements for the California Uniform Retail Food Facilities Law and you must attend both sessions. Help for veterans

The Disabled American Veterans Mobile Service Officer Van will be at the City Community Center, 760 E. Bellevue Road from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday to answer questions and fill out or check on disability claims for veterans. For more information, call (209) 356-1938.

Painting, drawing class

Merced College will host a painting and drawing techniques noncredit class for older adults from 1 to 4 p.m. starting Tuesday. The class will run for six weeks; on Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and on Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Merced County Arts Council is now registering for its summer 2009 arts classes at Multicultural Arts Center, Mon.-Thurs., 1 to 2 p.m. with two sessions to choose from, first one today. For more information, call (209) 388-1090 or go to artsmerced.org.
