PFLAG barbecue

PFLAG of Merced will celebrate its fourth anniversary with a barbecue potluck at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Wesley Hall of United Methodist Church of Merced, 899 Yosemite Park Way.

Youth group fundraiser

Sacred Heart Youth Group has earned enough for its three-day stay for the Youth Conference in San Diego, but now it needs to earn enough to get there.

The group will hold a 12-Hour Fund Drive from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Sacred Heart Hall on the corner of Canal and 13th streets. Many indoor and outdoor vendors will be on hand and everything from baked goods to designer handbags.

Food and soft drinks will be sold and we still have $25 booths available. All proceeds will go toward the charter bus fee.

Scholarships available

Applications are being taken for Beef Bred Heifer Scholarships for current and past Merced-Mariposa Cattlemen's Association beef bred heifer participants.

Applicants must be graduated seniors or college students and have participated in the beef bred heifer project and must have a 2.5 GPA and be a full-time student. Applications are due by July 20 and winners will be announced July 22. For more information, call (209) 723-8142.

Red Tent Book Club

The Red Tent Book Club will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Christian Connection, corner of G Street. and Olive Avenue. They will discuss the book, "The Blood of Lambs."
