New art highlighted at Merced Multicultural Arts Center

Artists and guests rubbed elbows Thursday during the opening night of a show at the Merced Multicultural Arts Center. The show combines the semiannual “The Really Big Show,” which is made up of established Arbor Gallery artists from the region, with the work of up-and-coming talent. While giving artists a chance to display their work, the show also brings Merced’s relatively small arts community together to meet and share ideas.


Central Valley counties see personal income rising

Central Valley counties joined a nationwide trend of growing personal income last year, according to data released Thursday by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis. Merced, Stanislaus, Fresno, Kings, Madera and Tulare counties all registered increases in per capita income – the amount of income for every man, woman and child – between 2012 and 2013.
